Fishing has long been a popular recreational activity in Nebraska, attracting visitors from all over the world. For those who have never tried their hand at fishing, or who are looking to get back into the sport, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is excited to announce a series of Community Fishing events that will take place across the state in May. These events offer a unique opportunity for people of all ages to learn about the sport of fishing and to get out on the water. Each event will feature free rods and reels, as well as bait and fishing instruction, allowing participants to learn the basics of fishing and to enjoy the experience.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is committed to promoting conservation and sustainability in the state’s natural resources. By providing opportunities for people to engage with the outdoors and learn about the importance of responsible fishing practices, the Commission aims to inspire a new generation of anglers.
Some of the key highlights of the Community Fishing events include:
- Rods and reels, as well as bait and fishing instruction, will be available for free
- Visitors can look for the Community Fishing events trailer at each park site
- Appropriate fishing and park permits are required, and all fishing regulations apply
